2008 Government Salaries

An Appropriations Act to approve of a budget for the government of the GPGC for the 2008 Session, as required by Act 98-5.

Section I:

The present Income Tax levied on the student salaries for the benefit of the Government is hereby continued in force and legislatively ratified for the remainder of the 2008 Session. It is anticipated that the taxes will provide a total of approximately $396.00 during the course of the current Session.

Section II:

The following sums are hereby appropriated for the purposes enumerated below:

A. Salaries for Government officials. The weekly salaries for members of the GPGC Government shall be as follows:

1. President $4.25 2. Vice President $3.75 3. Secretary $4.00 4. Justice (Individual) $3.25 5. Representative (Individual) $1.75 6. Senate (Individual) $1.75 7. Speaker of the House $2.00 8. President Pro Tempore $2.00 9 . Secretary of the Senate $1.0 0

Total Weekly Amount $42. 50

First Week Amount (Including Election Officer Salary) $46 .00

B. Printing Costs of the Government Documents. At the end of the Session, the Government shall transfer to the account of the GPGC the remainder of the funds collected from the Income Tax to reimburse the GPGC for costs of printing Government documents.

C. Salary of the Election Officer. The Election Officer shall receive a one-time payment of $3.50 payable in full at the end of the first pay period following the passage of this resolution.

 

Section III:

 

Any further expenditure shall be authorized by Acts of the Legislature as appropriate.

 

Section IV:

Should any portion, provision, or application of this act be found invalid, the remaining portions, provisions, and applications shall remain intact and be upheld. To this end, the provisions of this act are severable.

Section V:

All prior appropriations acts on the subject matters covered by this act, or parts thereof are hereby repealed.

 

Act 08-2

Dorm Curfew and Sign Out Policy

Section I:

A regulatory act to outline the rules for the sign out policy, “buddy system”, and student dorm curfew.

Section II:

            After 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM Saturday and Sunday, all students must “sign out” each time they leave the dormitory. Documents designated “sign out cards” will be provided by the dormitory staff so that each student may record his or her name, dormitory classification, destination, companions, time of departure, and estimated time of return. Students must then record the actual time of return on the sheet upon his return. Should the time of return exceed the estimated time of return, circumstances will be reviewed by the dormitory staff and in the case of student negligence, are then subject to penalty according to dormitory regulations. Failure to note time of return will also be subject to penalty according to dormitory regulations.

Section III:

The regulations for the number of students who must travel together when leaving the dorm are specified as follows:

1. Monday-Friday, during class hours and before returning to the dorm, two (2) students total

2. Monday-Friday, after class hours after returning to the dorm, on and off campus three (3) students total

3. Saturday-Sunday, on and off campus, three (3) students total

4. For the first two weeks of the summer session, all first-year students must be accompanied by a second-year student or higher

No student shall be permitted to leave the campus of McNeese State University before 5:00 PM without special permission from and in the company of a member of the GPGC faculty and/or staff.

 

Section IV:

            Any students enrolled in academic classes designated a part of the Graduate Division will be required to return to the dormitory at or before 8:30 PM.  Any student enrolled in classes designated as part of the Undergraduate Division will be required to return to the dormitory at or before 8:00 PM. Failure to return to the dormitory before the times specified by this act will be grounds for penalty according to dormitory regulations.

Section V:

            Upon leaving the campus, students will be permitted to travel to, and only to, destinations specified by the Coordinator of Housing. A list of these destinations will be posted in the dormitory and shall be approved by the Director of the GPGC. This list shall be separated into two sections, one of which will be approved for everyday visitation, and the other reserved for visitation at the discretion of the Coordinator of Housing or his explicit designee. In the case of Coordinator discretion, special limitations may be placed on such visitations so as to ensure that students will be kept safe and out of harm’s way during both travel and visitation of said destinations. The Coordinator of Housing and/or any additional higher authority, at their discretion, may adjust the provisions and/or violations of this act.

Section VI:

All prior acts and/or resolutions on the subject matters covered by this Act, or parts thereof, are hereby repealed.

 

Act 08-3

Handicap Button Regulations Bill

Section I:

A Regulatory act to prevent the misuse of Handicap Accessible Door buttons on McNeese’s campus.

Section II:

No student of the GPGC may activate the handicap door, unless special permission is given to that student.

Section III:

Anyone seen and/or caught pressing the handicap door buttons around McNeese’s campus shall be issued a ticket in the following amounts:

1 st Offense: $5.00, 2 nd Offense: $10.00, Additional offense will be handled as deemed necessary.

Section IV:

Should any portion, provision, or application of this act be found invalid, the remaining portions, provisions, and applications shall remain intact and be upheld. To this end, the provisions of this act are separable.

 

Act 08-4

Hall Phone Regulations Act

 

Revision of Acts 01-02 and 01-03

 

Section I

A Regulatory Act to regulate the usage of hall telephones.

Section II

This act shall be in effect for so long as the Governor’s Program for Gifted Children is housed in a housing complex composed of rooms utilizing hall phones.

Section III

On Sunday through Thursday, no student shall be able to use the hall telephones after 10 PM.

Section IV

On Friday and Saturday, no student shall be able to use the hall telephones after 11 PM.

Section V

No person may spend more than 30 consecutive minutes talking on the hall telephones.

Section VI

Violations of Sections III and IV shall be punishable by a $1.00 fine for the first offense and a $2.50 fine for subsequent offenses.

 

Section VII

Violations of Section V shall be punishable by a $1.00 fine.

Section VIII

 

Should any portion, provision, or application of this Act be found invalid, the remaining portions, provisions, and applications shall remain intact and be upheld. To this end, the provisions of this act are severable.

Section IX

All prior acts and/or resolutions on the subject matters covered by this Act, or parts thereof, are hereby repealed.
