A Summer of Great Ideas

The Governor’s Program for Gifted Children is six weeks of academic enrichment, artistic opportunity, and friendship.

A residential program at McNeese State University since 1959, the GPGC is the oldest and most comprehensive enrichment program for gifted students in Louisiana. With an approach that aims to develop the whole child, the GPGC provides for the intellectual, creative, and social needs of gifted children.

The program has changed the person I am today

The program has changed the person I am today; I have made so many friends that make my heart feel so fulfilled-even during the school year, I still stay in touch with them. It's nice to get away from parents and connect with amazing people that will become your life-long friends. The teachers are amazing as well. I've learned so many things from the teachers at the governors program that you would never learn in your regular school. The counselors are incredible- they're always there for anything you need to talk about and they're really chill and nice. I am personally friends with some of the counselors and i stay in touch with them over the school year.
The kids of GPGC are the true future. We all have our dreams, and we all change and grow up together. It's the most magical thing I've ever experienced, and i wouldn't trade it for the world.
