Organization of the GPGC

Academically, the GPGC is divided into two divisions - the Junior Division consisting of students in their first three years of enrollment, and the Senior Division made up of students who have completed the Junior Division curriculum successfully and older students who apply for entrance directly as Senior Division students, or "Grads."

Junior Division students follow the prescribed curriculum, as determined by the faculty. This curriculum includes classes in science and the humanities as well as composition. First year students learn the skills necessary to complete their projects given to them as second and third year students.

Senior Division students take college classes usually taught by McNeese State University professors. Classes include math, humanities, and other subjects designed to be helpful to students in their future college careers. Senior Division students are generally 15 and 16 years old.

Academic classes take place in the morning. The afternoon classes are devoted to the fine arts with offerings such as chorus, drama, musical, orchestra, stage tech, art, debate, and PE. Students are free to choose at the beginning of each summer which classes they would like to take, depending on their interests and talents.

GPGC prides itself on offering instruction to the whole student. This entails ensuring an active and nurturing dorm life and providing students with the opportunity to "rule" within the framework of the GPGC Government.
