Director & Assistant Director

George Middleton, PhD, has been the Director of the Governor’s Program since its inception in 1959. A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Middleton received his PhD in clinical psychology from Pennsylvania State University in January 1958. He earned his MA from the University of Alabama after completing his undergraduate degree from Birmingham Southern College. A former professor of psychology at McNeese State University, Dr. Middleton now has a private practice in Lake Charles.

Joshua Brown, Assistant Director, has been involved with the GPGC almost continuously since 1983, first as a student, then as a counselor for three summers while earning his BA in Political Science from the University of Mississippi. He also served in the Peace Corps as an English teacher in Kazakhstan. Since 1997 he has worked with the GPGC in an administrative capacity while also earning his MEd from McNeese. He is presently pursuing his PhD in Political Science at LSU.
